Hi. My name is Riccardo but I'm a bit more known online as Meru (including some variations).
Based in Italy, I'm a student @ UNIPR, currently taking Master's Degree in Communication Engineering, while already holding a Bachelor's Degree in Computer, Electronics and Communication Engineering.
I was fascinated by computers since when I was 3 years old, and my interest only grew in time.
Thanks to internet access, in 2008 I became interested in game making (specifically using the RPG Maker software), and even though I never accomplished any acknowledgeable result in making a game,
I started learning the basics of programming, and discovered a whole new exciting universe.
During the same period I started practicing guitar, and even though I never completely learned consistent music theory, I became a self-taught music composer.
In 2010 I found out about chiptune music, and I became obsessed with it. I got an LSDJ cartridge and a GBC and started messing around with it. After a while I started getting the hang of it, I became an active part of the italian Micromusic scene, and I've also been able to perform at a few parties.
As of 2018, I possess various modded Game Boys (a few I modded myself), a modded C64, a circuit bent NES, and various other hardware/software I make music with. I released an album in 2013 but it was mostly experimental. I'm currently collecting ideas to prepare a new, more solid release.
My main area of interest is Digital Signal Processing and despite having a wide range of secondary interests (like music production, or game making), currently my main projects are focused on learning to make audio and video synthesizers/FXs technologies.
In this website and on my github page there are various examples of such projects.
Despite my love for computers I have to admit that I'm not a good programmer and most of my code is in fact, unefficient and hackish.
However, I'm still learning and there will be surely many occasions to improve my code writing.
